In the Summer of 2019 a friend and I had the day off from work. Sun was shining and there was a plane available at our local flying club. So we chucked the golf clubs in the boot, fuelled up the plane and took the 1 hour flight to the island of Islay.
We were incredibly well looked after by The Machrie Hotel and Golf Links, where we managed to get 9 holes and a spot of lunch in. We then headed back to the airport, jumped in the plane and flew back to Edinburgh just in time for dinner.
Estimated round trip driving time - 10 hours
Flying time to Islay and back - 3 hours and 20 mins.
